LAT 01 06,5 S  / LONG 048 28.5 W

LAT 00 24,5 S  / LONG 047 46,0 W

LAT 01 06.5 S  / LONG 048 30.5 W

LAT 01 05.0 S  / LONG 048 30.5 W

The Pilot Stations are located at Espadarte and Mosqueiro. From Espadarte to Mosqueiro there are 02 access channels, Quiriri and Taipú.

At Quiriri Channel, Pilotage is not compulsory for vessels with draft up to 12.20 meters FW carrying nondangerous cargo. So self-Pilotage via Quiriri channel up to Mosqueiro P/S (inner P/S) are allowed up to 12.20 meters FW. However, for draft over 12,20 up to 13,80 Meters, Pilot must be hired since Espadarte (outer P/S) and additional costs involved. Teste for vessels with draft over 13,50 up to 13,80 Meters.

At Taipú Channel, the employment of pilot is always compulsory. Max allowed draft 11,50 Meters FW. Highlight that at this channel the Self-Pilotage is not allowed.

At Espadarte Pilot Station (Outer P/S) (it takes about 9 / 10 hours to reach Vila Do Conde anchorage, considering vessel’s speed 15 knots, under normal conditions) or at Mosqueiro Pilot Station (it takes about 3 / 4 hours to reach Vila Do Conde Anchorage, considering vessel’s speed 15 knots, under normal conditions).

–  (Outer PS) Espadarte PS [LAT 00°22’0”S /LONG 047°49’0”W (NORTH POINT) or LAT 00°24’5”S /LONG 047°46’0”W (EAST POINT)] – Pilotage compulsory to vessels carrying dangerous cargoes  as caustic soda, gasoline, gasoil, liquid gas, etc. For general cargoes vessels, this pilotage can be used as an alternative channel to reach Mosqueiro Pilot Station. The navigation from Espadarte P/S as far as Mosqueiro P/S should be done only with pilot on board, through Taipu channel. Self pilotage (without pilot) is not allowed through Taipu Channel. The port captaincy is able to follow up the navigation by AIS system and fines shall be applied to Master / owners in case of non compliance of above. As per Brazilian regulation, After the vessel takes pilot at Espadarte P/S, a compulsory change of pilots is carried out at Mosqueiro P/S to continue navigation to Vila do Conde. This move is mandatory. Steaming time from Espadarte P/S up to Mosqueiro P/S of about 6 hours + 2 hours to Vila do Conde.

In Case of No Free Berth – Vila Do Conde anchorage is the position where vessels drop anchor and get in port LineUp where first arrived at Vila Do Conde is the first vessel to come alongside.
