O Dia do Trabalhador ou Dia Internacional dos Trabalhadores é celebrado anualmente no dia 1º de Maio em numerosos países do mundo, sendo feriado no Brasil, em Portugal e em outros países. No calendário litúrgico celebra-se a memória de São José Operário por tratar-se do santo padroeiro dos trabalhadores.
Dia do Trabalhador no Brasil
Com a chegada de imigrantes europeus no Brasil, as ideias de princípios e leis trabalhistas vieram junto. Em 1917 houve uma Greve geral. Com o fortalecimento da classe operaria, o dia 1º de Maio foi declarado feriado pelo presidente Artur Bernardes em 1925.

Labour Day or International Workers’ Day is celebrated annually on May 1st, in many countries of the world, being a holiday in Brazil, Portugal and other countries. In the liturgical calendar we celebrate the memorial of St. Joseph the Worker, said to be the patron saint of workers.
Labour Day in Brazil
With the arrival of European immigrants in Brazil, the ideas and principles of labor laws came along. In 1917 there was a general strike. With the strengthening of the working class, the 1st of May was declared a holiday by the President Artur Bernardes in 1925.
